Oakland Cemetery - Atlanta, GA

I love walking through a good ol' cemetery...during the day. My favorite cemetery (yes, I have a favorite) is Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery in the Westwood Village area of Los Angeles, CA. It's hard to find, but there are so many famous and influential people buried there and it's definitely worth the trip. But that's for another blog post down the line.

Anyway...yesterday I took a trip to Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta, GA. This cemetery is the final resting place for an estimated 70,000 people, including some of Atlanta's most influential historical figures (including legendary golfer Bobby Jones and Margaret Mitchell, author of Gone With The Wind). I won't bore you with facts about the cemetery...but here's the Wikipedia link if you're interested in that kind of thing.

Anyway, I took only one camera and one lens...as I tend to do on recreational outings like these. I love the challenge of having only one lens and having to make it work. The other challenge I faced was that I was there from 1:00pm - 3:30pm...meaning that the sun was overhead, harsh and unflattering to even the oldest headstones. I was still able to come out with some images that I loved on the spot. Others took some editing for me to love them. Either way...here's Oakland Cemetery:
